Job Description for Peer Advisors

Part-time position; paid on an hourly basis

Rate of Pay:

Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) II $11.09 per hour or ISA III $13.97

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum 2.50 GPA or above undergraduate/3.0 graduate student
  • Thorough knowledge of the discipline area
  • Ability to work with students one-on-one
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to help students in GE course subjects

Duties and Responsibilities

The Peer Advisor will be responsible for the following:

  • Holding conferences with students on a weekly basis regarding academic progress
  • Mentoring the student in all facets of college life when needed
  • Willingness to accompany students to crucial academic appointments such as faculty office hours
  • Acting as a role model for students
  • Completing a monthly report regarding advising sessions
  • Attending training sessions before, during and at the end of the semester

Special Requirements

  • Must have strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be able to attend all required meetings
  • Must be able to return emails and phone calls on a timely basis
