Student Employment
There are several opportunities for student employment in the Department. Positions that we often fill include:
- Office Assistant
-
Works with our department secretary, Heidi Yamazaki. Answers phones, basic clerical work, etc.
- Stockroom Assistant
-
Stockroom assistants help by handing out trays for lab classes and helping to set up experiments for our introductory physics classes.
- Classroom Assistant
-
Classroom assistants aid instructors in lower division classes. Hours vary based on the number of classes and the kinds of tasks assigned by the instructors. Due to budgetary issues, such positions are becoming increasingly rare.
- Astronomy Teaching Assistant
Teaching assistants are required for the Astronomy 6, the astronomy laboratory class. TAs will work directly with the course instructor in setting up and aligning the telescopes and to assist students in using them.
Some federal work study positions are available. For more details or to get an application for these positions, please contact the Physics Department.
