Student Employment

There are several opportunities for student employment in the Department. Each semester students are hired in the following positions:

  • Stockroom Assistant
  • Stockroom assistants help by handing out trays for lab classes and helping to set up experiments for our introductory physics classes. Typical assignments are 5 to 10 hours per week.

  • Classroom Assistant
  • Classroom assistants aid instructors in lower division classes. Hours vary based on the number of classes and the kinds of tasks assigned by the instructors. Typical assignments are 3 to 6 hours per week.

  • Astronomy Teaching Assistant

    Teaching assistants are required for the Astronomy 6, the astronomy laboratory class. TAs will work directly with the course instructor in setting up and aligning the telescopes and to assist students in using them.
