About Phi Kappa Phi
The Phi Kappa Phi (PKP) All-University Honor Society is Sacramento State's oldest honor society. At the national level, this honor society is also the oldest and most selective honor society in the United States that recognizes excellence in all academic disciplines. Founded in 1897, Phi Kappa Phi, along with Phi Beta Kappa, is a charter member of the Association of College Honor Societies. Today, Phi Kappa Phi has more than 1,000,000 members in all parts of the world. Its more than 280 chapters are on college and university campuses throughout the United States, Puerto Rico and the Philippines.
The primary objectives of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi are to promote the pursuit of excellence in all fields of higher education and to recognize outstanding achievement by students, faculty and others through election to membership and through various awards for distinguished achievement. The Society is convinced that in recognizing and honoring those persons of good character who have excelled in scholarship, in whatever field, it will stimulate others to strive for excellence.
Phi Kappa Phi publishes a scholarly magazine, The National Forum and a newsletter, The Phi Kappa Phi Newsletter.
The Sacramento State Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi was chartered in 1964.
