Chief & Director
The office of the Chief is responsible for the administrative duties of the Department which include personnel management and training, budgeting, special events planning, and coordination with the campus community and outside agencies.
The Sacramento State University Chief of Police is Kenneth J. Barnett. Chief Barnett is a Sacramento native and started with the Department in 1976 as a student assistant. He has held the positions in the agency of police officer, sergeant, and lieutenant. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and his Master of Business Administration from Sacramento State.
Chief Barnett is also a graduate of the California Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Commission Command College and has successfully completed the Executive Development Course.
