ICICTE ( Fifth International Conference on Information Communication Technologies in Education International), sponsored by the Research and Training Institute of the East Aegean (????G - Samos) and the University College of the Fraser Valley (British Columbia, Canada). Presented paper entitled, Encouraging Learning in the Evolving Teaching Environment and taught workshop on Anyone Can Build a Website for professors. Summer, July of 2004.

Burnett, Nick
Nick Burnett , communication studies, presented a paper at the Second International Genocide Conference at Sacramento State titled "Into the Belly of the Beast: Holocaust Revisionism Comes to Sacramento." He also provided commentary and analysis on the presidential debates for KFBK 1530 and did a series of three post-debate interviews with KZZO 100.5. Posted the week of October 25, 2004

Tom Knutson , communication studies, had a paper accepted for presentation at the National Communication Association annual conference in Miami titled "Thailand as a Laboratory for Improved Intercultural Communication: Lessons from the Land of Smile."
Tom Knutson and Sutirat Posirisuk , Communication Studies, had their paper, "A Study of Thai Relationship Development and Rhetorical Sensitivity: JAI YEN YEN ," selected for presentation at the 55th annual conference of the International Communication Association. The paper, part of a systematic program of research, clarifies the Thai behaviors associated with intercultural communication effectiveness and concludes that jai yen yen (stay calm, be patient) may be a crucial pedagogical tool in intercultural communication instruction.
LeFebvre, EdithEdith LeFebvre , communication studies, served as a paper and panel reviewer for the peace and conflict division and the training and development division for the National Communication Association conference to be held in Chicago in November. At the last NCA conference in Miami, she was a respondent for a panel, a panel chair, secretary for the training and development commission and a participant on a interactive panel for training and development. In addition, she was recognized as an active participant for the legislative council representing the peace and conflict division.

Dave Zuckerman, Communication Studies, presented the following papers and panel responses at the annual convention of the Western States Communication Association in February: “Politics as usual?; Communication Studies Faculty as Change Agents on Campus,” “Journalism's Role in the Contemporary world” and “Cultural Values, Adaptation, and Conflict.” In addition, he served as panel chair for the following panels: “Producing Health and Healing in Social Interaction” and “Third Spaces in Masculine Spaces: An Examination of Janet Jackson's 2004 Super Bowl Halftime Performance.” Zuckerman was also asked to be on the editorial board of the Jean Gebser Annual, to be published later this year by Hampton Press.
