Research & Creative Activities
The department expects faculty to engage in scholarly activities.
Faculty pursue publication of their research in peer reviewed journals.
Faculty attend conferences, present their work in department brownbag
seminars, and seek opportunities for presenting their work at other
Universities.
Our faculty have had success in publishing their research. A bulletin
board in the department hallway highlights recent publications of
faculty. Students and faculty from all departments can scan the
bulletin board to read abstracts and learn what our faculty specialize
in. Vitas for all faculty members are in Appendix VI at the end
of this report. They provide a complete listing of scholarly and
creative activities.

Seven of our faculty have received CSUS Research and Creative Activity
summer fellowships over the past three years.
Faculty meet and exceed department expectations for scholarly
and creative activity. Since the majority of the faculty have been
hired in the last 3 years, we are engaged in new and exciting projects
with great potential for publication. Potential exists for some
faculty to mentor others as they pursue publication of their dissertations
and early research projects. These mentoring relationships have
evolved naturally in some instances. Faculty ask for suggestions
from their colleagues when pursuing publication of their work. The
brownbag series, where faculty present work in progress, has encouraged
more collaboration in the research process.
