Teaching and Learning

Teaching and learning has many dimensions, including establishing specific learning goals and expectations for students, designing courses, syllabi, and programs, engaging in research on teaching, keeping up-to-date on relevant knowledge, and reflecting on teaching in order to improve student learning.

Descriptions of faculty accomplishments discussed in this Section demonstrates that the faculty is recognized in many arenas. These endeavors translate into classroom experiences for students that enhance their learning and productivity. Employer, student, and alumni surveys acknowledge the Gerontology Program’s growing excellence in producing a knowledgeable and employable person. When addressing the Program’s strengths, one alumna said “It is the faculty – a variety of backgrounds and experiences. It was great to have their point of views.” A student said “(the strength is) the enthusiasm and commitment of the instructors which is truly motivational to the students!”

It is clear from the Vitae on file that faculty who teach in the Gerontology Program are primarily teachers and have great knowledge about clasroom and student aspects.
