| 2001 | Arrived in Dar, Tanzania on the 14th of October
and visited with Chief David Makwaia, a retired tribal chief
who is now very active in politics in Tanzania. I interviewed
him regarding; On October 29th I went to Mwanza where I arranged an interview
with the Archbishop of the Catholic Diocese of Mwanza. The
Archbishop, Mayala, introduced me to several major cultural,
community and academic projects he is embarking on. I am now
in the process of publicizing these projects and trying to
find some funding for them here in the U.S.A. Brief outlines
of these projects are herewith enclosed. I plan to devote
more time to their fulfillment after full retirement. |
| 2000 | Arrived in London, England, on September 6, 2000. Made arrangements to interview African students about the AID’s epidemic and its impact on African immigration policy in Britain—interviewed Ms. Gogadi, Ms. Waheda and Mr. Julius Makelemo. Visited the Tanzania High Commission in London to talk to
Mr. Azziz Sheween, the Embassy Councilor about; Arrived in Mwanza, a city on the shores of Lake Victoria, on September 21, 2000. I interviewed Ms. Mary Louise, a researcher at the Mwanza Research Center, about the significance of the center for promoting community and health goals in Mwanza City and region. On September 26, I ran into an old high school classmate, Mr. Ibrahim Kaduma, now a micro-bank representative in Tanzania who happened to be visiting Mwanza. He explained to me how the micro-bank system operates in Tanzania and how important it has become in helping small investors get started in business in third world countries. I had a very informative and educational experience. On September 30, I interviewed Mr Said Shomari, ex-member of the Tanzania Parliament, about corruption and ineptitude within the ruling party of which he was a member. Two years earlier, he had been physically attacked and splashed with sulfuric acid by someone who died in police custody before his case was tried. He believes the ruling party had attempted to kill him for his criticism of its policies. Anyway, he gave me the full side of his story. |
