Registered nurses number 2.7 million and rank as the nation's largest health care profession. Nursing is a rewarding profession that offers diverse career paths for men and women. Individuals choose nursing as a career, and remain in the profession, because of the opportunities for personal and professional growth. Experienced nurses are in demand for a wide range of job opportunities and enjoy both national and international job mobility. The profession provides leadership to create positive changes in health policy and delivery systems."
