Alumnus Chris Gardner was hired by Sacramento Tree Foundation for a habitat restoration project.

"I was hired by the Sacramento Tree Foundation at the end of August to be the project manager for a three year habitat restoration project in Elk Grove.  The project is located at the Stone Lakes National Wildlife Refuge and I will be working in partnership with the US Fish and Wildlife Service.  The three year project is funded in part by a grant from CalTrans and the total project cost will be $480,000.  The work will consist of CA native grassland and Oak Savanna habitat restoration as well as installation of a large hedgerow to promote native bee pollination for local farming operations. I will manage this project in addition to my full time position as the Habitat Restoration and Nature Preserve Manager for the Cache Creek Conservancy in Woodland. My PPA degree, and the fact I was able to earn it while working full time, helped me get both of these great jobs!" -- Chris Gardner
