Viola Brooks (PPA): I am a worker bee for the Department of Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Central California Agency. My title is Tribal Operations Specialist. I work with tribal governments and process paperwork for the 17 tribes assigned to me. I also assist individual California Indians with their requests while working with other state and local agencies. I am an enrolled member of the Hoopa Valley Tribe and am active in tribal activities and ceremonies. I participate in the Native American student group on campus called Ensuring Native Indian Traditions, ENIT. With ENIT I volunteer at native community events. For fun I like to attend music concerts.
Scott Vince (PPA): I completed a co-authored research study on California’s Women Veterans: The Challenges and Needs of Those Who Served that came about as a result of an internship I had with the State Library. The study is described as:
- Women represent over 15 percent of the active duty and reserve forces of the military, and make up over 220,000 of the 1.8 million troops serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) – the largest wartime deployment for U.S. women. Following their military service, often in combat conditions, women are returning to their roles as private citizens – wives, mothers, caregivers, workers – in unprecedented numbers. Women veterans share many of the short- and long-term physical and emotional consequences and needs that their male counterparts face as a result of serving their country. In addition, they have unique experiences and needs as female veterans. The report describes the state’s more than 167,000 women veterans (eight percent of the total veteran population); it identifies the challenges these veterans face, the primary services they need, and barriers they encounter. This report also explains the federal, state, and local service delivery structures that provide benefits and services to veterans, and provides additional resource materials.
Naomi Wick (ULD): I recently joined Coldwell Banker in Rocklin after assisting with the Development and Leasing of the FOUNTAINS in Roseville, CA (across from the Galleria Mall). I completed the Leadership training program through the Placer County Association of Realtors, and I am a member of "Ignite" (formerly Roseville Connects). I'm also a member of Rho Epsilon through CSUS. In addition, I am a Notary and Property Manager.
