HEALTH CAREERS

This site is intended as a resource for Sacramento State students who are considering a career as a health professional. Deciding on a specific health care career and preparing to be admitted to a health professional school are very difficult tasks. Many professional schools in health (e.g., Medicine) welcome a variety of majors and perspectives, some health professions (e.g. PT or Nursing) are often associated with a specific major department. If you think you know the health career for you, or are unsure of your path, use this site as a way of exploring professions and finding resources that can help you prepare for a career that fits.

Immediate Opportunities

  • Pre-med and pre-health event at UC Davis: http://conference.amsaarc.org/

  • Central Valley Health Network is offering pre-health students at Sacramento State an opportunity to witness first-hand the work that occurs at our local health centers.  CVHN is a consortium of several Federally Qualified Health Center corporations. Our health centers provide medical services and health outreach to low-income populations throughout California’s Central Valley. This coming year, we will be holding tours at a few of our health care facilities for pre-health students or those who are already on track to becoming a health professional. We think that this is a great opportunity for students to have honest exposure to a health care setting and the many people who work together to make it run efficiently. Students who participated in the public health tour before have said that the experience was informative and rewarding. We have previously offered this opportunity to UC Davis students only, and would now like to expand the project and offer it to more schools. Information about CVHN can be found at http://www.cvhnclinics.org/. Conact Zoe Doyle zdoyle@cvhnclinics.org
