Staff Employee Recognition

From President Alexander Gonzalez:

I am pleased to announce the names of the recipients for this quarter's Staff Employee Recognition Program:

Leticia Guerrero, Human Resources; Larry Kushman, University Enterprises, Inc; Matthew Mason, Facilities Management; and Ellen Young, University Library.

President Alexander Gonzalez and Leticia Guerrero Leticia ("Letty") Guerrero works in the Payroll Office. Letty's nominator indicated that she "truly sets an excellent example for the University as the ultimate dedicated employee." Her nominator went on to say that she gives "each problem her full attention until it is resolved to everyone's satisfaction" and that she is greatly respected throughout the campus for her willingness to help others and her excellent customer service skills.

President Alexander Gonzalez and Larry Kuchman Larry Kushman is a System Analyst in University Enterprises, Inc. He recently played a crucial role in the transfer of CSUS Trust Foundation accounts to University Enterprises, Inc. His nominator wrote that Larry "did his best to keep processes very similar to make the transition easier for end users and, in fact, he was able to make it easier for report information to be retrieved." Other comments included that Larry is a true team player and is very dedicated to his projects and the quality of his work.

President Alexander Gonzalez and Matt Mason Matt Mason works in the Automotive Services area of Facilities Management. During the time Matt has been here, he has come up with numerous ideas for cost savings and more efficient equipment utilization. In doing so, his nominator indicated that "he has vastly improved the level of service provided" and that Matt's positive attitude is a terrific asset to Automotive Services.

President Alexander Gonzalez and Ellen Young Ellen Young is an Administrative Analyst in the University Library. Her nominator wrote that "her outstanding interpersonal skills put everyone at ease" and that her work is always completed "on time or early...and with exceptional accuracy." Ellen also developed a special web page for the Library's many student employees and the supervisors to find, in one place, information ranging from policies to paydays. She has also served on many library and university committees.

My thanks to everyone who sent in nomination forms for the Staff Employee Recognition Program. We have many commendable staff on campus, and I encourage you to nominate anyone you feel is deserving of this award. We will keep all the nominations as part of the continuing pool of nominees until September 2006, and all nominees are eligible for the award until then. It is incredibly gratifying to see employees receive this award who so richly deserve it.
