I am pleased to announce the names of the recipients for this quarter’s
Staff Employee Recognition Program: Lillie Jones, University Library;
Norma Sanchez, University Union; and Andrea Shea, University Computing
and Communication Services.

Lillie
Jones has worked in the University Library since 1974 and has seen
four different administrations through the years. Her nominator
stated, "By assisting the new administrators in performing
their role as the chief administrative officers of the Library,
she has played a dynamic role in supporting the Library’s
mission and goals." She has also served on countless advisory,
search, and welcoming committees. Her dedication and loyalty the
university is remarkable, and her positive impact on the campus
community will be felt for years to come. |

Andrea
Shea is an Information Technology Consultant in University Computing
& Communications Services. She has helped countless faculty and
students with her work as a WebCT consultant and online specialist.
Her patience and consideration for those she is training, as well
as her easy-to-follow instructions, have made it easy for many people
to become computer literate. Her nominator stated, "Thanks to her
consistent assistance and collaboration, I have become a competent
teaching professional of technology." |
Norma
Sanchez works in the University Union and is responsible for the
customer assistance at the Information Desk, Games Room, Music Listening
Lounge and Gallery. Her nominator indicated that the service she
and her employees provide at the Information Desk is similar to
"a concierge at a world-class hotel." She displays a "unique
sense of professionalism" and has organized her student assistants
to be a team that provides the best customer service possible. |
My
thanks to everyone who sent in nomination forms. We have completed the
first year of this program and received many good recommendations; however,
these nominations are no longer eligible as we are now starting a new
year of the Staff Employee Recognition Program. I encourage you to nominate
an excellent employee. You can help make a deserving staff member feel
great about the wonderful job they do for the University.
