The PrintSmart System
In Spring 2001, Sacramento State launched the PrintSmart system for laser printing in
University computer labs and the Library. The objectives of the program are:
-
To improve customer service by eliminating “print periods”, establishing a print-on-demand service environment, and expanding laser print locations.
-
To conserve resources and eliminate waste by placing accountability for print costs on the users.
-
To reduce the cost to provide laser print service to our students
To use the Sacramento State PrintSmart system, the user must have a Sacramento State OneCard or a Courtesy OneCard. Sacramento State matriculated students will receive a PrintSmart allowance of 100 free black and white laser pages per semester. Their OneCard's PrintSmart account will be activated or reset one week before the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. Once that allowance is depleted, and for all other card users, the system will access the cardholder's Capital Cash debit account for funds to pay the five-cents-per-page charge for black and white laser print. The system will access the cardholder's Capital Cash debit account for funds to pay the fifty-cents-per-page charge for all color laser print.
At conveniently located Value Transfer Stations (VTS's), users may make cash deposits (no coins accepted) to their OneCard debit account in the Library across from the Circulation Desk, in Lassen Hall across from the Student Financial Services Center, in the University Union first floor near the Information Desk, in the Academic Information Resource Center student computer lab in room 2004 and at the OneCard Center in the Brighton Hall Annex. They may also make cash deposits by check at the OneCard Center.
