Our Mission
The CSUS Psychology Department is committed to enabling students to make reasoned judgments about claims regarding human behavior and mental processes, especially as those claims relate to diversity, human equity, and public policy issues. By teaching students to think scientifically about behavior and mental processes, the CSUS Psychology Department is committed to helping its students to make informed decisions that will benefit their own lives and the lives of others. Knowledge of human behavior and mental processes should help Psychology students to develop a sense of self-awareness and self-efficacy, a concern for others, a respect for people of diverse cultures, and an ability to evaluate and effect public policy related to the human condition. The CSUS Psychology Department is also committed to helping students to attain career goals in education, industry, mental health, science, or social service.
