Welcome to Psychological Counseling Services

If you are in immediate crisis, please call 911 or the Suicide Hotline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

We provide individual counseling to regularly enrolled Sac State students free of charge - couples counseling, group therapy, support groups, biofeedback and relaxation training, crisis intervention, psychiatric services (medication evaluation and treatment), and Learning Disorders Services (assessment and referral). If you would like to explore whether counseling is right for you, the first step is to stop by our Drop-In Clinic.

The Drop-in Clinic is located on the 2nd floor of the Student Health Center. During the academic year drop-in hours are: Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. No appointment is required.
Evening drop-in hours in the University Union Student Health Center Satellite Clinic are:  Monday to Thursday 5:00 - 6:30 p.m.

You will have a brief interview with a counselor to discuss your concerns. You and the counselor will talk about available options and resources to help you decide how to proceed.

As a regularly enrolled Sac State student, who pays state university fees, you are eligible for short term, time limited treatment at no cost. Further, group counseling sessions are unlimited throughout your Sac State adademic career.

Psychological Counseling Services staff are a group of multi-cultural and educationally diverse psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, marriage and family counselors and graduate/post-graduate interns. We provide assistance to students who are struggling with stress or troubling personal problems. At Psychological Counseling Services you have the right to privacy and confidentiality. No information about your participation is released to anyone without your written consent. No information appears in any other departmental or university records without your prior consent.

Our staff is available by request to consult with university departments and student groups to develop workshops, presentations, and discussions for students.
