Campus gets 'THUMBS-UP'

IMAGE: 85% of respondents would recommend Sac StateArea residents see Sac State as a vibrant university that offers strong academic programs, and most would recommend it to someone who was planning to go to college, according to the latest Annual Survey of Public Opinion and Life Quality in the Sacramento Region.

The survey, which is conducted by sociology professor Amy Liu and her students, found that 57 percent of residents of the four-county Sacramento Region considered the university vibrant while 68 percent agreed it is strong academically. Only 3 percent held a negative view.

In general, those who were well-acquainted with Sac State had even stronger positive feelings about the campus than those who didn't know the University well. While 85 percent of all respondents said they would recommend Sac State to others, that number jumped to 92 percent among those who felt well-informed about the campus.

Among her other findings: one out of four respondents had attended Sac State and more than three out of four had visited the campus. Respondents also think the university improves the quality of life in the region (80 percent) and that Sac State provides the future workforce for the Sacramento Region (85 percent).
