New logo, new look
Sacramento State unveiled its new logo at a campus pep rally during the first week of the fall semester.
The logo – a torch with intertwined S's burning above a river – symbolizes Sac State's place in the Capital Region as a place of leadership,
great teaching, opportunity and pride. It also hints at the University's stated goal of becoming a "destination campus" for the West.
The logo and accompanying graphics
package will be used to ensure that Sac State print and Web products have a consistent look, which will help Sac State share its success stories with the public, raise its visibility and build support
for its programs.
The logo and other marks were developed by Berkeley- and Honolulu-based Osaki Design. Osaki has done similar work for the University of Hawai'i, where it developed
the popular "H" logo, and San Diego State University.
In creating the new look, Osaki worked with a representative campus committee. The final identity package
is based on hundreds of pages of campus-generated research and documents, as well as meetings with more than 300 students, alumni, faculty,
staff and community members.
