Broads lend their support
After a half-century as a business leader, Eli Broad is focused on philanthropy. He and his wife Edythe
are widely known for their support of contemporary art but have also been
significant benefactors to causes related to education, medicine and civic development.
Their contributions to higher education include the commitment of 300 acres for Sac State’s proposed Placer Campus
and most recently a $2 million gift to build a new field house next to Hornet Stadium. They have made substantial contributions to several universities and Eli Broad has served as vice chair of the California State University system Board of Trustees.
Eli Broad founded two Fortune 500 companies—SunAmerica
Inc. and KB Home. He holds a degree in management from
Michigan State University and has been awarded honorary
doctorate degrees from Southwestern University and
Michigan State University. He is on the board of trustees for
CalTech and was on the board of Pitzer College.
