Parking Information

General Public

During the 2000 US Olympic Team Trials - Track and Field, parking will be available in the parking lots on the south half of the campus for those attending the event. The following parking lots 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, Overflow, and the Parking Garage will be used for this purpose. You may view the locations of these parking lots on the campus map at our website by clicking here www.csus.edu/utaps/map.pdf

A fee of $5.00 per day per vehicle will be charged for parking during the event. The fee will be collected as you enter the parking lot.

To access most of the parking lots available to U.S. Olympic Team Trials attendees, it is suggested that you enter the campus from the south entrance at College Town Drive and State University Drive, or from the new Folsom Blvd entrance (scheduled to open by June 1, 2000).

To access the parking garage, it is suggested that attendees enter the campus from the front of the campus at the J Street entrance. Briefly travel south on the Esplanade and make a right at State University Drive (which is the first street intersecting the Esplanade), and follow State University Drive around to the parking garage. It will be on your left at the third stop sign.

Faculty, Staff, Students and Visitors on University Business

Faculty, staff, students and visitors coming to campus on university business will use the parking lots north of Sinclair Road (1,2 & 11, see campus map at web page www.csus.edu/utaps/map.pdf) to park their vehicles during the 2000 US Olympic Team Trials - Track and Field.

During the Trials, issuance and use of daily parking permits will be limited (daily permits are the $1.75 one- time use permits that are purchased from the yellow permit machines located in various campus parking lots). Daily parking permits will only be sold in parking lot 2. A portion of parking lot 2 (about 350 spaces) will be designated as the only parking lot that will sell and allow parking with use of a daily parking permit. Once the designated area in parking lot 2 fills, no other daily-permit-parking will be available. Campus employees and students are strongly encouraged to purchase a longer term parking permit, in advance, during this period (faculty, staff, & students who already possess a valid long term permit will not be affected).

General

During the days that the U.S. Olympic Team Trials are being conducted, the south half of State University Drive West will be blocked to through traffic from Sinclair Road south to Stadium Way. Traffic traveling north and south on the campus will have to use State University Drive East.

For some of you coming to campus during the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, alternative transportation is not a viable option. However, for those that can take advantage of traveling to campus using alternative transportation, we would urge you to do so. Sacramento Regional Transit (RT) is offering convenient and frequent transit service by bus and light rail from locations around the Sacramento region. Schedule information can be obtained through the RT web site at www.sacrt.com or by calling 321-BUSS. RT provides bus service to the CSUS Transit Center at the North end of campus and Light Rail service to the 65th Street Light Rail Station, approximately ¼ mile from CSUS. You can walk from the 65th station to CSUS, or catch the free RT connection to the CSUS Transit Center, which takes about 5 minutes.
