| In accordance with federal regulations and campus policy, protocols for research involving human subjects must be reviewed and approved by the Institutional Review Board (the Committee for the Protection of Human Subjects) prior to recruiting subjects and/or collecting data. Should you begin your work before receiving official IRB approval, you put your project in jeopardy and the use of any data collected will not be permitted. In addition, you are exposing yourself and the University to potential liability even if an adverse event does not occur. Any research involving human subjects that utilizes Sacramento State personnel, facilities, resources, and/or students is covered by these requirements.
