About Us

The professional staff of Research Administration and Contract Administration provide a broad range of support, coordination and outreach services related to funded research grants and contracts. We submit research and grant proposals on behalf of Sacramento State faculty for external funding, and we accept and administer the research awards and contracts that result from those proposals and related activity. Research Administration also facilitates the Institutional Review Board (IRB), comprised of faculty committees which oversee the protection of human subjects and regulate animal care reviews. The office also coordinates the selection and award of research and creative activity funds allocated by the campus in support of faculty initiatives.

Our structure is the result of a creative partnership between Academic Affairs and University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI), the primary campus auxiliary, in which the Academic Affairs provides support to scholarly and creative activities, and UEI accepts and administers the grants and contracts. University and UEI professionals work side-by-side in support of the intellectual and programmatic initiatives of faculty, staff, and students on our campus. We also serve a critical role as liaisons with local, state and federal funding agencies and other organizations which support and encourage the intellectual, creative, and service activities of our great university.
