About Us
Sacramento State’s research and scholarly portfolio is led by faculty focused on active integration of teaching, research and inquiry. Within departments, individual research agendas thrive alongside interdisciplinary research collaborations. Students, both undergraduate and graduate, are increasingly involved in faculty projects. Across the campus, academic programs and curricula are being revised, and research pathways are being redefined, to address new demands.
There are prominent initiatives underway in the STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), the allied health sciences, and the social and behavioral sciences. Faculty collaborations on cancer disparities research, medical technology innovation, and biotechnology training are ongoing with the University of California, Davis as part of our collective commitment to the region’s health and wellness.
The Office of Research Administration and Contract Administration provides support and development services related to the campus research enterprise, including sponsored research grants and contracts. Our structure is a partnership between Academic Affairs and University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI), the primary campus auxiliary. Academic Affairs staff provide faculty with research and proposal development support, and UEI staff accept and administer the awarded funds on behalf of the University. Research Administration also facilitates, for Academic Affairs and the Faculty Senate, the Institutional Review Board (IRB), the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), and other research support activities.
