Program: Music Education Programs
Agency: ASCAP Foundation

Supports American music creators & encourages their development through music education & talent development programs. Foundation's programs include songwriting workshops, scholarships, awards & recognition programs, public service projects for senior composers & lyricists, & providing grants to other organizations engaged in educational programs for aspiring songwriters & composers. Average grant size is $3,000. Deadline refers to required letters of intent.

Program: Traditional Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program
Agency: Council for International Exchange of Scholars
Next Deadline: Aug 01, 2008
Sends nearly 800 scholars & professionals each year to 140 countries, where they lecture or conduct research in a wide variety of academic & professional fields. Applicants must have current US citizenship; hold a PhD or other terminal degree in their field; have university teaching experience; & have foreign language proficiency for country where project will take place. Awards vary from two months to a full academic year. Single deadline exists for grants to all world regions.

Program: Kennedy Library Research Grants
Agency: John F. Kennedy Library Foundation
Next Deadline: Aug 15, 2008
Provides up to $5,000 for studies that will benefit from use of the Kennedy Library. The purpose of these grants is to help defray living, travel, & related costs incurred while doing research in the textual & non-textual holdings of the library. Preference is given to dissertation research by Ph.D. candidates working in newly opened or relatively unused collections, research on Ernest Hemingway, and the work of recent Ph.D. recipients who are expanding or revising their dissertations for publication.

Program: Grants (Music Ed. for Children, College & Adult Students, & Instructors)
Agency: Mockingbird Foundation
Next Deadline: Aug 01, 2008
Supports music education, primarily for children. Projects may encourage expression in all musical forms. Preference to projects for children 18 yrs or younger who are members of disenfranchised groups, such as those with low skills, income, with disabilities, &/or in foster care, & hospitals. May also target college students, instructors, or adult students. Awards (up to $5,000) are for instruments; texts; materials; learning & performance space; & teachers. Annual deadlines of 2/1 & 8/1 are for required LOIs.

Program: Grants for Arts Projects: Access to Artistic Excellence
Agency: National Endowment for the Arts
Next Deadline: Aug 11, 2008
Supports activities to make the arts more widely available, especially in areas where the arts can strengthen communities. NEA is particularly interested in projects that extend the arts to underserved populations, those whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics, or disability. Funding is available for dance, design, folk & traditional arts, literature, local arts agencies, film/radio/TV, museums, music, musical theater, opera, presenting, theater, and visual arts.

Program: Project Awards & Visiting Scholar Programs
Agency: Russell Sage Foundation
Next Deadline: Aug 15, 2008   (target date)
Supports research exclusively in the social sciences. Project Awards support basic social science research to improve social policies. Letters of intent are encouraged prior to full proposals.
