The Henry N. Barkhausen Award is sponsored annual by the Association for Great Lakes Maritime History (AGLMH) to recognize and encourage new research in the field of Great Lakes maritime history.

Submissions will be accepted from any person(s) involved in Great Lakes Maritime History regardless of formal training. All sources used in a paper must be must be properly documented and a bibliography included with the paper. Either endnotes or footnotes are acceptable. Entry requirements include the ability of authors to be able to attest that submissions include original research using primary source materials or archeological findings, and have not been previously published.

Support is provided to tax-exempt organizations for projects which foster and encourage an appreciation of the English language, with major emphasis on the spoken language. Priority is given to projects for the improvement of speech and its uses in public affairs, education, theater, poetry, debate, and the oral interpretation of literature.

The sponsor awards a single grant or multiple grants totaling $2,000 for the purpose of encouraging student journalism on architecture, planning and related subjects, and to foster regard for intelligent criticism among future professionals. Any journal (online or print) published by a school of architecture, landscape architecture or planning in the United States that is edited by students is eligible. The publication must have been produced in the current or previous school year. The award is not intended as a prize for individuals, but is intended to support the ongoing publication of student-edited journals whose subject matter could include architectural design, history, and theory.

The program seeks highly innovative 3-year collaborative projects that break new ground and demonstrate a high level of synergy between the collaborating investigators in the following areas: Development of new and improved analytical techniques for materials properties and structural characterization of cultural heritage objects; Understanding material degradation and aging through experimental studies of the interactions and response of cultural heritage objects to environmental perimeters (bulk and surface interactions) and the development of new theoretical models to predict the dynamic properties of cultural heritage objects that would lead to their degradation while taking into consideration their moleular and micro-structural properties; and Development of new methods for materials stabilization, strengthening and repair. While the current solicitation is limited to chemistry and materials research topics, it is envisioned that the program will be expanded to include additional areas of interest to the field of cultural heritage science in the coming years.

The Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation (FAIC) provides grants of up to $4,000 to support projects in glazing applications for preservation of museum and library collections.
To be eligible, an applicant must be a not-for-profit collecting institution (museum or library) with active exhibition programs and located in one of the 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, or U.S. territories The institution must have at least one full-time conservator on staff, or a conservator on contract for the project.

Etant donnes: The French-American Fund for Contemporary Art offers Curatorial Research Grants supporting the professional development of American curators by offering them extended stays of two weeks to two months in France for research trip / projects in the field of contemporary art.
The grants are reserved for curators and scholars, who must be American citizens or legal residents of the United States for at least five years and have a minimum of three years of research or professional experience in the field. Preference is given to those who are currently employed by or have a specific project in collaboration with a nonprofit art space. Applicants must obtain authorization from their partner institutions to travel for the proposed period of research.
