Program: Institutional Grants; Film Festival Grants; Academy Film Scholars Program
Agency: Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
Next Deadline: Jan 15, 2010
Institutional Grants provide modest funding for film-oriented projects, including college-based internship programs, to college film departments & organizations providing service or info related to motion pictures. Awards between $5-15K (deadline 1/15). Film Festival Grants are to make festival events more accessible to the general public. Awards between $2.5K-$30K (deadline 7/1). The Scholars Program seeks to explore theatrical motion picture art, science, commerce, history or theory. Awards are $25K (deadline 10/1).

Program: Long Term/Short Term Visiting Academic Research Fellowships

Allows researchers to use the AAS library's resources in American history & culture through 1876 for research & writing. Visiting Academic Research Fellowships include various Long Term awards of $40,000 for senior & mid-career Ph.D. scholars (deadline 1/15/09); Short Term awards, of $1,700 per month for those living off campus at their own expense or $1,200 for those who choose to live rent free on campus, for recent Ph.D.s & doctoral candidates.

Program: Multi-Country Research Fellowship Program
Agency: Council of American Overseas Research Centers

Supports U.S. doctoral candidates and scholars with Ph.D.s in fields of the humanities, social sciences, or allied natural sciences. Must conduct research of regional or trans-regional significance in two or more countries outside the U.S., one of which must host a participating American overseas research center. Fellowship term is typically 90 days and fellows receive $10,000.

Program: Visiting Fellowships
Agency: Houghton Library

Supports short and long-term fellowships at the Houghton Library, which contains Harvard College's rare books & manuscripts, particularly European, English, American, & South American literature. Collections include American literary manuscripts, philosophy, religion, history of science, music, printing & graphic arts, dance, & theater. Eligibility is limited to ABD graduate students or postdoctoral researchers with membership in the American Society for 18th-Century Studies at the time of the award. Fellows spend at least one month at the library.

Program: Long-Term & Short-Term Research Fellowships
Agency: John Carter Brown Library

Provides residential fellowships for advanced research to scholars whose work involves the colonial history of the Americas, North & South, including all aspects of the European, African, & Native-American involvement. Short-Term Fellowships are available for pre- & postdoctoral or independent research for two to four months. Long- Term Fellowships are available for five to 10 months; graduate students are not eligible for Long- Term Fellowships.

Program: Art History & Conservation Fellowships

Provides up to $40,000 for senior fellows & $30,000 for pre-doctoral fellows, with up to an additional $5,000 for travel. Fellowships supporting short- term research by senior museum curators are also considered as well as a position for a research scholar in photo conservation. Program: Teacher Enrichment Grant Program
Agency: Music Teachers National Association: MTNA Foundation

Provides support to music teachers, including faculty, for private study or special projects in performance, pedagogy, music theory, composition, etc. Support is also available for individual classes, small projects, workshops, master classes, and seminars for the enhancement of teaching skills. Membership in MTNA is not required. Most awards range from $250 to $1,000 each.

Supports traveling or long-term museum exhibitions, library-based projects, interpretation of historic places or areas, interpretive web sites, or other project formats that creatively engage audiences in exploring humanities ideas and questions. Program: America's Historical and Cultural Organizations: Planning Grants

Program allows institutions to provide the public with opportunities to explore the humanities through activities such as exhibitions, reading & film discussion series, catalogs, lectures, symposia, & websites. Projects with broad outreach and digital components are strongly encouraged. Grants generally are for up to $40,000, though especially complex projects may receive up to $75,000.

Program: America's Media Makers: Development and Production Grants
Agency: National Endowment for the Humanities

Projects must promote active exploration & engagement for broad public audiences in history, literature, archaeology, art history, comparative religion, philosophy, or other humanities. Development grants enable producers/scholars to develop the content & format & to prepare the programs for production; awards last from 6-12 months & range from $40K to $75K. Production grants enable producers & scholars to continue their engagement with humanities topics, & they support the production & postproduction of programs; awards last for 1-3 years & range from $100K to $800K.

Program: Long-Term and Short-Term Fellowships

Long-Term awards (deadline 1/11) provide postdoctoral scholars up to $50K for six to 11 months to use library history, music, linguistics, literature, printing, and cartography collections. Supports individual research and promotes intellectual exchange through participation in library scholarly activities, including biweekly fellows' seminar. Short-Term awards (deadline 3/1) provide $1,600/month to postdoctoral scholars or Ph.D. candidates who need to use Newberry collections. Other special awards and fellowships offered.

Supports scholarly projects that promote the appreciation, interpretation, preservation, study and teaching of European art from antiquity to the early 19th century. Program: Study of the U.S. Institutes for Scholars

Supports six-week summer academic programs for multinational groups of university faculty from abroad. U.S. universities compete to hold institutes on their campuses. Funding cycles run every two to three years. Themes for 2010 are Culture and Society, Journalism and Media, and Secondary Educators. Approximately 18-30 foreign educators participate in each institute.

Program: Jennings Randolph Program for International Peace
Agency: U.S. Institute of Peace

Senior Fellowships (9/8) are awarded to professionals in the broad areas of international peace and conflict management. Program is open to individuals with national or international stature in conflict resolution and mid-career professionals. Senior Fellows work in residence at USIP in Washington, D.C. for up to 10 months for up to $1000,000. Peace Scholar Dissertation Fellowship Awards (1/5) provide $20,000 for10 months of writing or field research. Must have completed all Ph.D. coursework.

Agency: Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion

Supports programs for full-time faculty in religion departments of IHEs and in theological schools accredited by the Association of Theological Schools.
