Program: Community Action Grants
Agency: American Association of University Women Educational Foundation
Next Deadline: Jan 15, 2010
Supports one-year grants ($2,000-$7,000), which provide seed money for new projects and two-year grants ($5,000-$10,000), which provide start-up funds for longer-term programs that address the particular needs of the community and develop girls' sense of efficacy. For both programs, topic areas are unrestricted, but should include a clearly defined activity that promotes education and equity for women and girls. Applicants must be women who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Program: AERA Grants Program
Agency: American Educational Research Association
Next Deadline: Jan 06, 2010
Supports the development of U.S. education researchers using NCES & NSF data sets for basic, policy & applied research. Programs include: Research Grants (up to $20,000 for one-year projects, or up to $35,000 for two-year projects) & Dissertation Grants (up to $20,000 for one-year projects). Applications accepted 3 times each year. Support is also available for education research conferences intended to break new ground in substantive areas of inquiry, stimulate new lines of study on largely unexplored issues, or develop innovative research methods.

Program: Research/Project Funding & Undergraduate Scholarships
Agency: American Hotel and Lodging Educational Foundation
Next Deadline: Jan 01, 2010
Supports hospitality research & projects that benefit the lodging industry. Proposals must address industry problems, have broad geographical appeal, & contribute to prosperity of the industry. Unsolicited applications for research grants are accepted 3/1 and 9/1 annually. Several scholarships are also available to support students pursuing a degree in hospitality management (5/1 annually). Students must be enrolled in hospitality management programs. Scholarships are available quarterly for those already working in the hotel industry.

Program: APA Congressional Fellowship Program
Agency: American Psychological Association
Next Deadline: Jan 07, 2010
Provides psychologists w/opportunities to broaden awareness about the value of interaction among psychologists and within the federal government. Special Fellowships are available for mid-career clinicians & for psychologists with expertise in ed assessment/health & behavior issues, including HIV/AIDS (Catherine Acuff Fellowship; William Bailey Health & Behavior Fellowship, & Educational Assessment Fellowship). Fellowship stipend ranges from $60,000 to $75,000 depending upon years of experience post-doc.

Program: AmeriCorps State and National
Agency: Corporation for National and Community Service

AmeriCorps National grants are designed to address community needs through the assistance of individuals who commit to a term of service of 300 to 1700 hours per year. Several grants offered with slightly differing objectives: State Commission and National Competitive including Professional Corps and Fixed-Amount Grants; State and National EAP; States and Territories without Commissions; and Indian Tribes. Program: Speakers Grant Program
Agency: NCAA Foundation

Supports speaker fees for athletics department drug education and/or wellness programs. Eligibility is limited to active NCAA member institutions or conferences. Preference will be given to those institutions that meet the grant requirements on a first-come, first-served basis. Because of limited funding, applications should be submitted early. Limited submission: one $500 grant per semester. Deadlines are 1/15 & 9/1 annually.

Program: Women's Scholarship Fund Program
Agency: Talbots Charitable Foundation
Next Deadline: Jan 02, 2010
Awards up to 10 scholarships of $15,000 each & 1 scholarship of $30,000 to outstanding women seeking a bachelor's or associate degree later in life. Eligible applicants must be women currently residing in the U.S. who earned a high school diploma or GED at least 10 yrs ago; are currently seeking a degree from an accredited 2- or 4-year college, university, or vocational school; & have at least 2 full-time semesters or 24 credits remaining to complete their undergraduate degree. Deadline is 1/2/09 or when the first 5,000 eligible applications have been received, whichever is earlier.

Program: Fulbright-Hays: Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad
Agency: U.S. Department of Education
Next Deadline: Dec 01, 2009
Provides grants to IHEs to award six to 12 month fellowships for doctoral students in modern foreign languages or related area studies to conduct dissertation research abroad. Proposals focusing on Western Europe and the U.S. are not eligible. In FY 10, approximately $14.7 million is available to fund 142 fellowships.

Program: Fulbright-Hays: Faculty Research Abroad Fellowship
Agency: U.S. Department of Education
Next Deadline: Dec 01, 2009
Helps institutions strengthen foreign language and area studies programs by supporting faculty to conduct research abroad in modern foreign language and area studies. Overall goal is to strengthen knowledge on world areas not widely included in American curricula. Western Europe and U.S. projects are not eligible. In FY 10, approximately $1.4 million is available for 20 awards.

Program: American Battlefield Protection Program
Agency: U.S. Department of the Interior
Next Deadline: Jan 21, 2010
ABPP supports projects that lead directly to the identification, preservation and interpretation of battlefield land and/or historic sites associated with battlefields. Project funding has ranged from $5,000 to $80,000. Applications hand delivered by applicant or sent by commercial express delivery service must be received in the ABPP office by January 21, 2010. Applications sent by regular mail must be USPS postmarked by January 2, 2010. ABPP encourages applicants to use an express delivery service, as Grant Application Packages sent via regular USPS mail will be irradiated.

Program: Frederick Douglass Institute Fellowship Program
Agency: University of Rochester
Next Deadline: Jan 31, 2010
Provides two types of residential fellowship awards to pursue interdisciplinary research on the people of Africa & its Diaspora. Postdoctoral Fellowships offer stipends of $35,000/one year, & awardees are expected to teach two courses. Predoctoral Dissertation Fellowships of $23,000 focus on dissertation completion.
