In 2004, Sacramento State launched Destination 2010, an initiative designed to begin the transformation of the campus into a university of choice for prospective students throughout the West. Destination 2010 requires new thinking, new approaches, and a commitment to service, operational clarity and execution that only comes through significant change and discovery.
The new theme for our office is Discovery and Direction, which underscores the process of creative discovery by which teaching and research occur, and the need for direction and purpose in the application of resources to those discoveries in order to value and integrate them into public service and the expansion of knowledge. As part of a public university, we embrace our fiduciary responsibility to the faculty, students and community to search for excellence in support of our campus-community partnership and Destination 2010.
In concert with our mission, we have established the following goals:
- Provide dynamic, responsive service at the highest levels of professionalism;
- Focus on an environment that is efficient and cost-effective;
- Maintain and expand positive working relationships with campus and community;
- Develop new opportunities to support and strengthen faculty research capacities;
- Improve processes and policies continuously to ensure the financial and operational integrity of the office and service levels; and,
- Encourage a high level of visibility across campus for the office and staff.
