RCA Faculty Awards Program

The 2018-19 RCA Faculty Awards competition is now closed.

Award announcements will be made in April 2018. Details about the 2019-20 competition will be available in Fall 2018.

The purpose of the RCA Awards Program is to support faculty research, scholarly, and creative activity, and to encourage faculty contributions to their disciplines. This program is funded in part through the CSU Chancellor's Office and Academic Affairs. It is administered by the RCA Subcommittee with support from the Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development.

Award recipients must produce a scholarly deliverable, such as an article or manuscript to be submitted for peer-reviewed publication, or a grant proposal, juried exhibition, performance, etc. Award recipients must also submit a required project report documenting the results of their work at the conclusion of the funding period.

All Unit 3 faculty are eligible and encouraged to apply (including full-time faculty, part-time faculty, temporary faculty, probationary and tenured faculty, lecturers, coaches, librarians, and counselors, as outlined in the Unit 3 Bargaining Agreement).

If you received an award in 2017-18 and you have any anticipated changes in project scope or deliverables you must receive approval from the Chair of the RCA Subcommittee prior to proceeding with the change. Failure to alert the Chair or the Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development of contemplated changes may jeopardize aspects of your award. Click here to report a change.

Final Reports: All awardees of the 2016-17 competition must submit final reports through InfoReady Review by Friday, September 29th by 5:00 p.m. Instructions for accessing this system and submitting your report can be found here.

Final reports must contain the following information:

Summary/Abstract
Provide a description of the completed research/project/activity in 500 words or less. It should be an objective and accurate summary of your work including the purpose, methodology, results, and conclusions of the project. The abstract should clearly describe the work accomplished during the award period.

Project Accomplishments
List any published articles (with full bibliographic citation) or other forms of dissemination such as conference papers, grant proposals, videos, musical compositions, art/graphic work, etc. which have resulted from this award. This would include any manuscripts or other appropriate representations presently in press (or in preparation) or any other materials in preparation or already presented at meetings or displayed at exhibits.

Deviations from the Originally Proposed Scope of Work
If relevant, describe any departures, including timing, from the original research plan; discuss special problems encountered. 

Award Details
Provide details on how funds were spent (Assigned Time, Summer Research Support Salary, and Research Support Funds) as well as the involvement of students.

Scholarly/Research Products
Upload completed manuscripts, appropriate representations of the work undertaken, and/or most recent drafts of materials prepared under the RCA Faculty Award. In the absence of formal manuscripts or other representations of the work undertaken, a detailed account of project results should be submitted.

Once submitted, your report will be sent to the RCA Committee for review. The Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development will contact you if your report has been approved or if further revisions are needed.
