Central to the university’s mission is the promotion of creative and scholarly activities by our faculty and students.  As students engage in the creation of new knowledge and its application to real-world problems, they transcend the classroom experience. The Provost’s Student Research Fall Forum offers undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to present their research activities to the campus community in poster presentation format on Monday, November 7th from 9:00am – 2:00 pm in the Redwood Room of the University Union.

The return on student research and scholarly activity includes enhancing critical communication skills, independent thinking, creativity, problem solving, and professional and academic credentials to support applications for scholarships, awards, career employment and entry into graduate and professional schools. Fall Forum participants will have the opportunity to gain speaking and presentation experience without being judged, but will receive feedback on their work and presentation styles. This event also allows students to test run their presentations in preparation for the campus-wide Student Research Symposium on Tuesday, March 7, 2017.

The Provost’s Student Research Fall Forum is co-sponsored by the Student Research Center, Research Affairs, Undergraduate Studies and Graduate Studies.

Future Events:

Sacramento State Student Research Symposium 2017

The Student Research Symposium is an afternoon event to celebrate and recognize the outstanding scholarly accomplishments of our Sacramento State students. They may choose to make an oral presentation or a poster presentation, and they may choose to participate and be judged or participate and not be judged.

For those who choose to be judged, the Provost's Award for Research Excellence, including a monetary award, will be granted to the top four student participants (or student teams) in the Symposium’s undergraduate and graduate divisions for those students making either poster presentations or oral presentations. Faculty mentors (or team mentors) of the winners will receive professional development funds.

Up to ten of the judged oral presentations will be selected to compete at the 31th Annual California State University Student Research Competition. Due to the rules of this Competition, only those making oral presentations are eligible.
