Getting Started with ResLink

  1. Check to make sure you have the required hardware:

    1. 10/100baseT Ethernet Network Interface Card
The Ethernet card needs to be compatible with your computer.  Most desktop and laptop computers will have a built-in Ethernet network interface card.  If installation of your Ethernet card is required, we recommend a professional install it.  ResLink staff members are not authorized to install Ethernet cards or any other hardware.

    2. Category 5 Cable - RJ-45
Category 5 Cable can be purchased at the Hornet Bookstore or any computer supply store. Please note this is not the standard telephone cable RJ-11.

    3. 802.11G or N Wireless Network Card (Optional, not required)
The Sacramento State wireless network conforms to 802.11G or N (depending on location) wireless networking standards.  A wireless 802.11G/N network card is required to connect to wireless Internet services throughout campus and in the residence halls.  802.11G/N wireless network cards are backward-compatible with 802.11B, and will also connect to the network.  An increasing number of newer laptops come with built in 802.11G compliant wireless cards.  The wireless network signal is limited to residence halls common areas, NOT individual rooms.
Campus wireless Internet coverage maps and additional information can be found at http://www.csus.edu/wireless.
    4. Create or verify you have your SacLink account information.
To be able to log onto the campus network and gain access to other campus services, you will need to obtain a SacLink Account.  To set up or verify your SacLink account, click the Register button located at https://www.saclink.csus.edu/saclink/.

    5. Log on to the Authentication Page
