Microsoft Office Communicator 2005
Install Office Communicator 2005 (Windows XP only)
- Open a browser session and go to the software download page software.csus.edu.
- Click Obtain Software , click I Agree on the Welcome page and then sign in with your SacLink username and password.
- Click on the link to download Office Communicator. Click the Download button.
- If you are using Mozilla Firefox to download the client application, select Save to Disk and then click OK . This will save the file to your Desktop . To start the installation, double-click on the icon on your desktop.

If you are using Internet Explorer to download the client application, click Save , and save the file to the Desktop (or any preferred location). Click Run in the next window. Another window will pop up asking you if want to run the software: click Run . This will start the installation process.
- Click Next to start the installation Wizard.
- Select “I accept the terms in the License Agreement” option and click Next .
- To progress through the installation continue clicking Next .
- Click Finish once the installation is complete.
Launch Office Communicator 2005
- Go to the Start menu.
- Go to All Programs.
- Click Microsoft Office Communicator 2005.
Sign in to Microsoft Office Communicator 2005
If a Windows Security Alert pops up, then click Unblock, to stop Windows Firewall from blocking the program.
- Click on the Sign In button.
- You will be prompted for your Communicator account. Enter your default SacLink email address and click OK . See the Default Email Address instructions to determine your default address..
- A window should appear prompting you to enter the domain\user and your SacLink password. The domain\user is csus\SacLink username. If the window does not appear, the authentication will fail and you will need to follow these additional steps:
- From the Actions menu, choose Options.
- In the Accounts tab, click the Advanced button.
- Click the Configure settings options.
- Enter im.saclink.csus.edu for the server name.
- Select TLS for the Connect using option.
- You can then start adding contacts to your Contact List.
