How to Create and Modify an E-mail Alias

Faculty and staff can create and manage an e-mail alias. This alias does not replace the SacLink username; it simply personalizes the e-mail address based on the individual's name. The alias allows the faculty or staff member to have an e-mail address in the form 'alias@csus.edu'.

For example, if John Smith's SacLink username is js01, the default e-mail address would be js01@saclink.csus.edu.

To access SacLink e-mail alias information follow the steps given below (to create or modify the e-mail alias, skip to step 7).

  1. Open up a web browser and go to https://www.saclink.csus.edu/.

  2. Click on the Login button to gain access to your SacLink Account Utilities.

  3. Enter your SacLink Username in the Username field and your SacLink Password in the Password field. Click the Login button to continue.

  4. The SacLink Main Menu page will be displayed.

  5. Select the Account Summary option.

  6. From this Account Summary page, the alias information can be obtained. If you want to use the system generated alias itself, then just click on the Log Out.

  7. If however you would like to create another e-mail alias, click on the Return to SacLink Menu button and select the Create/Modify E-mail Alias option.

  8. To create a new alias click on the Add button.

  9. From the drop down list first choose the e-mail alias of your choice.

  10. To choose the e-mail destination, enter a valid account name on the server where you would want to receive e-mail. To receive e-mail from different servers, select the appropriate server from the drop down.

  11. Click the Update button to continue.

  12. Click the Return to Alias Menu to see the updated display of your alias.

  13. Click on the Return to SacLink Menu button to get to the SacLink Main Menu page.

  14. Please make sure to Log Out by clicking on the link at the top of the SacLink Main Menu page.
