File Transfer Protocol (FTP)

FTP is a method of transferring files from one computer to another.  For instance, FTP is used to transfer files from a local computer to a Web server so the pages are available on the Internet.  To transfer files using FTP you need an application that supports its use such as Internet Explorer, WS_FTP, or Fetch.  FTP capability is also available with most Web editing applications such as Dreamweaver.  For specific information on how to download and/or use an FTP application, choose one of the following links.
