On the Quad. Getting to know today's students.

Juan Lopez

Hometown: Kelseyville, Calif.

Major: International Business. Plans to graduate in Fall 2007.

Background: Tour guide and tele-counselor for University Outreach at Sac State.

Influences: “My brother got me started into these campus activities because he also did a lot of stuff on campus. The people in University Outreach are very encouraging of what you do and are just a great group of people.”

Proudest accomplishment: “I actually wasn’t going to attend the university right off the bat. I’m glad I did straight out of high school. Otherwise I don’t think I would have had the motivation to come here. I would probably have started community college and worked full time. I would probably still be back there taking one class a semester.”

Highlight: “Working for outreach has given me so many resources. I’ve gone to meet a lot of people and I have had the opportunity to be on some interview committees like the hiring board for the Student Affairs assistant vice president. ”

Destination: “When I graduate I want to get a job working for a business for a year or two and also get an internship for the fall or spring and then go back and get my master’s degree. I’m looking at health administration, so I can have that knowledge of working at a business and work for a hospital.”
