Sacramento State students have dusted off their textbooks and are set for a new semester. The University’s spring session began on Monday, Jan. 24.
The new semester brings a new addition to the University – Folsom Hall, which the Division of Nursing now calls home. The new facility provides a lot more elbow room and a more realistic hospital-like environment for its simulation labs.
A video preview of the facility can be viewed at http://www.csus.edu/pa/video/20110119_NursingOrientation.html.
Orientation for the program’s new first-year students was held in mid-January.
Final figures are still being tallied, but it appears Sacramento State admitted more than 3,000 students for Spring 2011. Total enrollment for spring is expected to be about 26,000 students, up from 25,500 in Spring of 2010.
That follows two semesters of reduced enrollment because of state budget impacts. The campus was basically closed to new admissions in Spring 2010 and had to reduce Fall 2010 enrollment by 10 percent.
The increase was made possible by one-time funding received last year.
Sacramento State officials are already looking ahead to Fall of 2011 after receiving more than 30,000 applications for admission. Decisions on those applicants will start being sent out March 1.
