04-01-2011

ATS offers young people a summer filled with fun and learning.

The deadline is quickly approaching to enroll children in Sacramento State’s summer Academic Talent Search program. Parents have until 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, to submit their applications.

ATS holds more than 120 summer classes in two programs.

The first is for students in grades six through nine, and includes courses such as acting on camera, cartooning, chemistry: explosions and ooze, and forensic science.

The second program is for fourth- and fifth-graders, and includes animal ambassadors, beginning drawing, creative writing: fairytales, and solving mysteries with science. Both programs run concurrently June 20-Aug. 5.

Course fees range from $125 to $419 and financial aid is available. Only fourth- through ninth-graders who have taken the qualifying exam are eligible. There is still time to test. Call the ATS Office at (916) 278-7032 for test dates and times.

Applications for classes and other details about the program are available at http://edweb.csus.edu/projects/ats/. For media assistance, call Sacramento State’s Public Affairs office at (916) 278-6156.
