SacTweetUp has found huge success throughout the region organizing gatherings where small-business owners and other Tweeters meet face to face with those they’ve been connecting with on Twitter. Now it’s coming to Sacramento State.
SacStateTweetup will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, in Ballroom 3 of the University Union. Students, alumni, local bloggers, small-business owners and many other Twitter users will get together in what is described as a part social, part business gathering.
The attire is casual and the focus is on social media, but the evening also offers opportunities for job networking with local employers.
The event is spearheaded by Blake Menezes, executive vice president of Associated Students Inc.; and Alejandro Reyes, head of SacTweetUp; along with the help of ASI Director of Business Julie Saeturn, through the Business Joint Leadership Council.
“The SacStateTweetUp is a great opportunity for all students to meet with small-business professionals and entrepreneurs in an informal setting,” Menezes says. “As far as we know, this is the first Tweetup to occur on a college campus in California.”
Tweetups are being held around the nation, offering Tweeters and their followers a chance to get together and mingle, whether it’s a business network, a formal gathering or a bowling party.
To register for the Sac State event, go to http://sacstatetweetup1.eventbrite.com/ or access #sacstatetweetup on your Twitter account.
The SacStateTweetUp will include refreshments and appetizers, and participants are encouraged to bring their smart phones. But being a Tweep is not a requirement. “You don’t have to Tweet to come and hang with us,” Menezes says.
