Sponsored by the CBA Dean’s Office and the Pedagogy Enhancement Award Program, “Exploring Leadership Emotion in a Motion Picture Festival” will feature four comedy films created and produced by business students. The movies fuse theory and practice for effective leadership strategies. The program’s premise is that successful leaders employ a full range of emotional tactics to get the best from their employees.
Associate Professor Hakan Ozcelik oversees this operation by challenging student teams to probe the possibilities of leading with emotional intelligence. Ozcelik’s extensive experience as an amateur actor and director enables him to incorporate dramatic techniques in his classroom to illustrate some of the important concepts and theories in organizational behavior and communication. It’s a balancing act, he says, preferring to let the students discover things for themselves.
A panel of experts will review the films and choose the winner.
