Rae will relate his personal experiences and the social transformations he has witnessed during his 12 years visiting China in “Speed Bumps on China’s Road to Modernization” at noon Wednesday, March 20, in the University Union Lobby Suite.

Rae was a visiting professor and Fulbright scholar at China Foreign Affairs University in Beijing from 2011 to 2013. From 1997 to 2000 he worked in Washington at the United States Institute of Peace, and received a master’s degree in international affairs at American University. He received a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Hawaii in 2005.

PIE was developed by Professor Kimberly Nalder to understand how the electorate gets informed, how much citizens know, and what issues might arise from inaccurate knowledge, and to address those issues.
