College students continue to find Sacramento State a popular destination. The total head count for spring 2014 was 27,692 students. As planned, the total exceeded the University’s enrollment target by approximately 3.7 percent.

Sac State campaign, commercial win CASE awards

Sacramento State is the recipient of Gold and Silver Awards of Excellence presented by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), District VII, for outstanding marketing communications in 2013. “Made at Sac State” received Gold in the Advertising Campaign category while the 30-second commercial “Going All the Way” earned Silver in the PSAs and Commercial Spots category.

Breton, Valadez will lecture at Sac State

Marcos Bretón, a columnist for The Sacramento Bee as well as an author and radio personality, will deliver a lecture to students from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, in University Union Ballroom II. A meet-and-greet with Bretón will be held from 2 to 2:45 p.m. in the Union Lobby Suite.

Language learning enhances cultural connection

Last fall, Sacramento State Anthropology Professor Raghuraman Trichur brought his honors class to the College of Continuing Education’s One World Initiative symposium on migration. There he encountered Instructor Niccole Scrogins, whose English Learning Institute (ELI) class was doing presentations for an event she had coordinated. Students from both classes began to converse and – better yet – learn from one another.
