A new Family Justice Center being developed by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office and Sacramento State’s College of Health and Human Services, with a number of public and private agencies and organizations that serve victims of family violence, will further enhance the University’s commitment to helping the community.
The center will provide comprehensive support services for those who are victims/survivors of domestic violence, according to District Attorney Jan Scully.

While the community will be the center’s primary beneficiary, Sacramento State instructors and students also will benefit through opportunities for faculty research, student internships and community service.
“Sacramento State is proud to partner with District Attorney Jan Scully to help people and families in need in our community,” says University President Alexander Gonzalez. “The Sacramento Regional Family Justice Center will provide valuable learning and research opportunities for our students and faculty, and enhance Sacramento State’s service to the region.”
“The unique partnership between the Sacramento Regional Family Justice Center and Sacramento State is truly a win-win,” Scully said. “It’s exciting to create a first-of-its-kind model for the state where students from virtually every academic college will receive real-life learning opportunities and training while providing the center with much-needed resources and services.”
Leaders of the Family Justice Center initiative are asking for community involvement and support to help fund the center. They launched their campaign at a kickoff event on Friday, April 18, at Sacramento State’s University Union.
The kickoff included the viewing of an eight-minute I’m In video outlining the need for the center and what services will be provided, followed by press availability.
