Arts, English, history, philosophy, communications, and more - the college has programs that enrich our lives, excite our senses and generate insight on our very existence. It serves all undergrads because they must take at least one Arts and Letters course.
Art Exhibits
The Department of Art has a long-standing reputation for quality and diversity. Exhibits that feature a wide range of art forms – painting, sculpture, multi-media – by students, faculty and guest artists, are exhibited in galleries across the campus.
Music Concerts & Series
Sac State’s Music Department covers all of music’s moods with outstanding performances by students, faculty and guest artists. Events include the Festival of New American Music, the World Music and New Millennium concert programs, and the Piano Series.
Theatre Performances
Like life itself, nothing stands between performer and audience in live theater. Sacramento State’s Theatre and Dance Department examines life from all angles; in edgy dramas, uproarious comedies and sparkling musicals. Recent productions include Metamorphoses, Twelfth Night, and The Wiz.
Dance Concerts
Combining sound and movement, interpretive dance makes an emotional connection with its audience. Sacramento State’s Theatre and Dance Department stages several shows designed by a talented and experienced faculty and the students themselves.
Design Shows
The Department of Design recognizes that the environment in which we live and work are shaped by an ever-increasing quantity of visual information. Students use traditional and technologically advanced modes of visual communication to create and present their work.
