Made at Sac State: Eugene Villanueva is rising to opera stardom

Sac State graduate and baritone Eugene Villanueva is a rising star in the opera world who credits Sacramento State with helping him define his goals and for giving him the solid educational background to succeed in music. Villanueva has been lauded for his "gorgeous vocalism ... and exemplary diction," and in 2008, he debuted at Carnegie Hall. Villanueva was headed in an entirely different musical direction before his college career began: He originally studied key and wind instruments. But during his time at Sac State, his voice began to change - and with it, his professional destiny.
