The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold an informal meeting about levee work near the Guy West Bridge 4-6 p.m. Thursday, July 8. The meeting will be near the Campus Commons entrance to the bridge.
The Guy West Bridge, linking Sacramento State and the Campus Commons area, will be closed for construction July 18 - Aug. 24. Construction will address seepage problems that pose a risk of levee failure during emergency releases of water from Folsom Dam and the American River, the Corps says.
The meeting is open to the public and is intended to help answer any questions or concerns from people who use the bridge during heavy commute times.
The construction project is a cooperative effort of the Army Corps of Engineers, the Central Valley Flood Protection Board and the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency.
