Sacramento State Impaction

Faced with severe cuts in state support and growing student demand, Sacramento State officials are exploring “program-level” impaction for the Photography programs. If implemented, the change would take effect beginning with the fall 2013 semester.

Program-level impaction occurs when student demand for a particular program exceeds the University’s funded capacity to accommodate those students. To manage this demand, the University could apply additional criteria for entry into those programs.

This change would only affect this program. Admission to the University is not affected by program-level impaction.

To provide information and solicit feedback on the program-level impaction proposal, the University hosted forums:

Although Sacramento State will remain under “campus-level” impaction through at least the 2013-14 academic year, the University will continue to admit students from its service area for admissions under the existing minimum requirements for the California State University.
