Sac State welcomes art from China


"Fellow of Mt. Ailao" by Hu Xiaoxing is one of the pieces that will be displayed at Napa Hall.

The work of four award-winning artists of Yunnan, China will be on display for free public viewing 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sept. 9 and 10 at Sacramento State's College of Continuing Education, Napa Hall.

The "Art Tour in California - the Colorful Yunnan" exhibit showcases some 80 works of art by the special Appointed Artists of Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

The featured artists include Yinxin, photography; Hu Xiaoxing, watercolor; Hekun, woodcut; and Chen Hongling, calligraphy and Chinese painting. All of the artists have received numerous awards and honors.  

The artists will be on hand to meet with students and community members from 9 a.m. to 4p.m. on Sept. 9. Opening ceremonies will be conducted in the lobby of Napa Hall at 9:30 a.m. that day.

The exhibit is co-sponsored by the College of Continuing Education at Sacramento State, the Yunnan Overseas Economic Cooperation Association and the Yunnan Overseas Culture Exchange Association.
