Sacramento State’s Center for California Studies has just released its annual report, which underscores the value of this multifaceted resource.

The Capital Fellows Program has been ranked among the nation’s 10 best internship programs for the last two years. The rankings are the work of Vault.com, a nationally known resource for career management and job search information. Vault’s clients include Fortune 1000 advertisers and recruiters, and the country’s top universities and graduate schools. The Vault Guide to Internships is regarded as one of the most important resources for college students and graduates looking to enter a challenging job market.

Last year’s applications for the Capital Fellows Program were a record 1,468. Given the program’s success, those numbers are almost certain to increase this year.

The Center continues to serve as Sacramento State’s liaison with the Panetta Congressional Intern Program. It partners with the Sac State Division of Criminal Justice to develop and implement the Justice Epstein Internship Program, a semester-long internship designed to link undergraduate Sac State students interested in a legal career with Sacramento Superior Court judges and administrators. Last year, the Center’s LegiSchool Project was awarded the National Association of Secretaries of State's Medallion Award.

Other accomplishments include conducting a successful Legislative Staff Management Institute; administering a $300,000 research project for the CSU, UC and California’s independent colleges and universities; and providing critical support to the Judicial Administration Graduate Certificate program.

Executive Director Tim Hodson credits the Center for California Studies’ hard-working, dedicated staff “whose efforts throughout the year ensure the excellence of the programs.”
