Mexican consul general coming to Sac State


Carlos Gonzalez Gutierrez, consul general of Mexico, will be the first in a series of breakfast speakers this year at Sacramento State’s Alumni Center, from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4. This event is co-sponsored by the University Alumni Association and the Business Alumni Chapter.

Gutierrez was appointed by Mexican President Felipe Calderon and was confirmed by the Senate to act as consul general of Mexico in Sacramento, with jurisdiction over 24 counties in northeastern California.

The consul general has a bachelor’s degree in foreign relations from El Colegio de Mexico and a master’s degree in foreign relations from the University of Southern California. He has been a member of the Mexican Foreign Service since 1987 and has held several posts in Mexico and abroad.
